Advantage Arms .22LR Conversion Kits for Glocks, Springfield XD, and 1911 pistols are finally making a comeback after a nearly two-year hiatus. I have a Glock 26/27 size frame set and a Glock 17/22 size frame set. They work very well. My kids love taking pictures of them, and so do I.

To use these accessories, simply remove the slide assembly from your host gun and replace it with the slide assembly from the conversion kit.

Your conversion kit will come with a 10 round magazine. Additional magazines can be ordered directly from the Advantage Arms website. There is a 15-round magazine for the G-17/22 and G-19/23 kits, but it doesn't fit and will extend about half an inch from the bottom of the G-17/22's magwell.

The G-17/22 and G-26/27 conversion kits are very reliable with CCI Mini-Mag, Winchester M-22, Remington Golden Bullets, and Gemtech mini-bullets.

The G-17/22 kit worked very reliably with the threaded barrel and silencer attached when using CCI Mini-Mag and Winchester M-22 ammunition. Even though you usually like Remington Golden Bullets, it won't work reliably with this ammo attached to the silencer.

Like the G-17/22 kits, the G-26/27 kits work reliably with CCI Mini-Mag, Winchester M-22, Remington Golden Bullets and Gemtech small bullets; however, none of these bullets would work with turning devices. as well as an integrated compressor. Don't waste your money on a threaded barrel trying to suppress a "Baby Glock" converted to Advantage Arms .22LR.

Advantage Arms states in their instructions and website that the adapters will not work at all with CCI hollow points, Winchester (except the newer M-22 ammo), Remington Thunderbolt, PMC, or Federal multipack ammo. Avoid this type of shooting and turning devices.

As with any .22LR rifle, test several boxes of ammunition for reliability before storing; however, you should expect good results from the Winchester M-22 and should plan to keep a large amount of this ammunition. These sets are so much fun and you'll burn through them quickly.

If you don't have the patience for detailed explanations, the information above will still serve you well. If you want to know more, keep reading.

Rather than keep changing slides and going back to our Glocks, some of us have been able to find complete new Glock frames on Gunbroker.com. We have retrofitted new Glock frames to create custom .22LR caliber Glock pistols.

Best Self Defense Weapon: When Does A .380 Beat A 9mm?

The manufacturer recommends CCI's "Mini-Mags" (40-grain round action, not the hollow point) or Remington's "Golden Bullets" bulk pack (pictured right). The manufacturer notes that the Remington Golden Bullets work well, however you will find lighter bullets and inconsistent loads than the CCI Mini-Mag loads. With a clean conversion tool and Remington ammo, I fired over 300 rounds before the first malfunction.

Advantage Arms states in the instructions and on their website that the toggles will not work at all with CCI, Winchester, Remington Thunderbolt, PMC, or Federal multi-pack blank ammunition.

Advantage Arms recommends Remington Golden Bullets and in my experience they work very well with both of my conversion kits when unloaded. Add a suppressor to any equipment and they will experience misfires, time and time again. If you never plan on using a suppressor then I would give Remington "A" ammo. If you plan to use a suppressor, then Remington bullets get an "F" rating.

As discussed above, my Glock 26/27 and Glock 17/22 revolvers usually like Remington Golden Bullets, unless they play rough with the integrated suppressor. Both kits work well with Gemtech mini ammo (pictured right), with or without a suppressor attached. Grade A".

You can order this ammo directly from the Gemtech website or from a few online vendors. It is often difficult to find in stock. You can add your email address to Gemtech's waiting list and you will be notified when it becomes available. Don't delay ordering. It usually sells out at the end of the same day. Buy in bulk. you'll be glad you did.

This ammo also works well in my Ruger 10/22 rifles, as well as an AR-15 rifle equipped with a CMMG .22LR adapter kit.

I tried CCI's regular velocity ammo (pictured right). It worked badly. All used casings are not supplied. I had to use a cleaning rod to get the stuck case out of the chamber. Where CCI Mini-Mag high velocity ammo works well, regular velocity ammo is a "no-go."

I tried Winchester's M-22 brass washed 40 grain ammo (pictured right). Although this ammo is not mentioned in the instructions for the conversion kit, it worked perfectly. You can definitely say it is more powerful than the Remington gold bullets. Granted, it doesn't have the power that the 9mm has, but when you pull the trigger you can tell where your money went with this excellent bullet. Definitely faster than CCI Mini Mags and Remington Golden Bullets. You should expect about the same speed and velocity as CCI's Mini-Mags bullets (discussed above).

Rock Island Armory Rev22 Conversion Kit For Glock 19 22tcm9r

These bullets are very reliable in Advantage Arms' conversion kits for large frame G-17/22 pistols, with and without suppression. It also worked well in a Glock 27/27 conversion kit without a suppressor, but like all bullets tested, it would not work with a suppressor attached (conversion kit failure, as explained below).

This is outside the scope of the Advantage Arms conversion kit discussion, but as a low-end Gemtech version, this ammo also works well in my Ruger 10/22 rifles, as well as an AR-15 equipped converter. CMMG .22LR. The only reason I gave the Winchester M-22 an overall grade of "A-" is because when fired from the rifle it is very loud and produces a loud crack when the bullet exceeds the speed of sound. However, when fired from the short barrels of Advantage Arms' twist kits, it doesn't reach the maximum velocity, so it doesn't produce the high-pitched sound that a rifle does. If you fire this unsuppressed bullet from a Ruger 10/22 or CMMG .22LR conversion kit for AR-15 rifles, it gets an "A+" for reliability, but not great when you want to shoot silently. making this M-22 my go-to ammo for heavy rifle bullets and heavy suppressed pistol bullets. I will be using Gemtech for quiet rifle programs.

I cannot recommend this ammo enough for Ruger 10/22 rifles without suppressors, AR-15 rifles with CMMG conversion kits, Glock 17/22 large frame pistols with Advantage Arms kits (with or without suppressor) and Glock 26/ pistols. small frame. 27 Advantage Arms equipped pistols.

Ballistics By The Inch says that for 40 grain CCI muzzleloader bullets, you should expect a velocity of 1014 feet per second when fired from a 4″ barrel.

Gun Review: Law Enforcement Trade In Glock 22

I used the Ballistic iPad app and assuming a velocity of 1014 feet per second and a .625″ sight length above the bore, I figured the best distance to zero the pistol in the flattest way would be 8 yards. With an 8 yard zero, without Of course, you can expect:

With this zero, you can expect to hit within +/- the height of the sights above the hole (0.6″) over 50 yards.

At 100 yards, your rounds will impact about 10 inches below the post. At 100 yards you can expect a bullet energy of 71 feet, so it's not realistic to best defend yourself or hunt humans at that range, but it's good to know the expected performance if you do. forced.

Threaded barrels are available directly from the manufacturer so you can bolt your gearbox with a silencer. The barrels come with an adapter that upgrades the thin threaded barrel (thread pattern unknown) to the 1/2x28 threaded design common to most .22LR suppressors (pictured right) . I found that removing the suppressor from the barrel adapter caused the adapter to clear from the barrel instead of the suppressor clearing from the adapter. A quick fix is to gently tighten the adapter on the barrel with a 16mm open end wrench. (Keep an extra 16mm wrench in your gun bag and one in your kit/toolbox. They are available at every pawn shop on the planet.) the suppressor thread connection separates the adapter before the adapter separates the barrel. Do not strengthen it further. Also, don't get the good idea to use a thread locker to secure the adapter to the barrel. You will need to remove the barrel adapter to separate the conversion kit for cleaning.

Both of my conversion kits work well with Gemtech's .22LR subsonic ammo and the Element II suppressor from Advanced Armament Corporation.
